Youth Activities
Local Network Fund Project
Local Network Fund project for the Afghan women and children project which we carried out in 2006 included educational workshops for children and a 3-day residential trip to Cadbury World by Crusader Holidays.
During the workshops children learned how to use digital camera and video camera, they learned the basics of film makings, editing and acting, the workshops were run by professionals from film and acting industry. The children learned new skills and had the opportunity to use camera equipment and develop ideas for the future film making.
Another exciting part of the project was residential coach trip for 3 days to Cadbury World. The journey included visits to UK historical towns Oxford and Stratford-on-Avon where children learned about the history and present of the places, excursion to Cadbury World chocolate factory, visit to Bourneville village, 2 nights in the hotel including breakfast & dinner.
The project has been completed and was a great success. Our funder’s representative has attended our organisation during the project and was greatly satisfied with the results, therefore, we may plan a similar project in the future in another borough.
Youth Support Project

We currently run a Youth Project supported by the grant from Paul Hamlyn Foundation where main target group are unaccompanied Afghan children.
We work with the children’s social services sections of London boroughs and have networking sessions with them and also with the young people, we work on the specific issues that the children and youth are concerned about.
The education programme includes workshops, after schools projects, forums and talks in order to improve English and communication skills, raise self-confidence and increase the capacity of the Afghan disadvantaged and socially excluded children and young people.
The project provides extra learning support to young people in order to develop their full potential, to offer an alternative curriculum to those who are currently not doing well at school or not attending school, with a particular emphasis on under-achieving young people.
We intend to improve children's social and cooperative skills through engaging them in various activities and find out about their aspirations and wishes for the future.
We are planning more projects this year and we will be happy to hear about other organisations and projects/programmes in other local communities to co-operate with.
