Volunteers

If you are interested in networking, making new friends and gaining experience; if you want to spend your extra time helping others in need towards a better life then read on!

British Afghan Women's Society (BAWS) is a small charity offering support and activities for disadvantaged women and children in London.
BAWS is committed to ensuring that every volunteer has a rewarding experience!
Volunteers join us for many reasons and we aim to make volunteering as flexible as possible.

Here are just a few ways in which people could support our work:

There is an increase of people who are choosing to volunteer to establish a career, not only for the profit sector but more and more employers are seeing the benefits of an employee who has supported volunteering, school aged volunteers are starting their ethical footprint in life.

We provide training and support for all roles. So come and join us!

Our client base is growing as we have built a reputation for responding effectively to requests for help and support from women in Enfield and across London. Since we first set up, we have used up to 50 volunteers, some of whom remain volunteers and others who have moved on. Some of our service users have now become volunteers, thus ensuring that our advisers can identify with the demands of our client group. Volunteers have been provided with training, sometimes for up to 3 months, thus improving their own employability. We consult our service users regularly on the most appropriate way of meeting their needs and organising our activities to fit in with their schedules in order to maximise participation in our activities, both through the newsletter and through one to one and face to face contacts.

The reasons Afghan women contact us is that they know that their needs will be addressed by fellow Afghan women who understand their circumstances.

If you are interested in helping Afghan women and becoming a volunteer, please get in touch with us.
