Part-time Youth Project Coordinator/ Outreach Worker
To work with in a small and friendly team
20 hrs / 3 days a week -Start in June 2009

British Afghan Women's Society is currently looking to recruit a part-time
Youth Project Coordinator/outreach worker to work 3dyas a week, in two locations
north and west London with travel within Greater London areas from time
to time.
Job Description - Project Coordinator
Main Job Purpose - Youth Project Coordinator for 2 years, on a yearly contract basis.
Enhanced CRB checks and reference from previous employer required
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Customers (youth and families), Volunteers and Management Committee (MC) members and out side bodies such as local authorities/children and family social services to understand the requirements for the project; develop effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for the project.
- Define the deliverables, resource requirements and work plan for the project, and manage development and delivery.
- To ensure the project is delivered within the requirements of the organisation and with in the identified time frame.
- To estimate and plan projects from start to finish, with built in contingencies.
- To ensure projects meet quality standards.
- Manage, monitor and motivate the cross functional team assigned to the project.
- To manage volunteers and delegate the tasks by involving those in all levels from start to finish.
- Keep financial records and authorise project related and out of pocket expenses to volunteers.
- To report monthly progress directly to supervisor and to the MC members as and when required and to have regular reviews with your Manager/Supervisor.
- To attend meetings/trainings required and related to the project.
- To conduct project presentations and compile reports.
Skills / Attributes Required
- A proven track record of successful project implementation, with in
the charity and voluntary sector environment.
- Team management experience, comfortable matrix managing project teams
- Excellent client facing skills
- Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in the initial
conceptual design stage, at each stage in between and finalising.
- Have excellent knowledge of IT, administration, working with people
from ethnic minorities, particularly Refugees and Asylum seeking Women
and Children.
- A well motivated person to motivate the team of young people and meet
tight deadlines.Be an excellent communicator within the organisation and
external bodies.
- The ability to work towards deadlines and to work some evening and weekends
where required to attend trainings, conferences and to supervise the activities
of volunteers.
