Becoming a Volunteer with BAWS
Volunteering with BAWS is a very rewarding experience. The charity has positively influenced many people’s lives over the past 11 years and this is your chance to become a part of that!
BAWS appreciates the time offered to us by volunteers without which so many of our activities would just not be the same. In turn we are devoted to developing our volunteers and we will always try to match you to a volunteering opportunity that suits your interests and skills.
BAWS welcomes volunteers from any background, male or female!
There are many benefits to volunteering with BAWS

Please take a look at our current volunteering opportunities on the right hand side of the screen.
If you feel those opportunities are not for you there are other ways of getting involved with our work. We are always happy to have people helping out with:
Youth Work and Outreach
You could be helping out with sessions for young people or you could be contacting schools and colleges in order to reach out to more young people and get them interested in joining us. Knowledge of Dari or Pashto is a plus but is not essential.
Are you interested in supporting our work with women and youth in the UK and in Afghanistan with donations? Get in touch if you would like to fundraise on our behalf among your friends and relatives or you have an idea for a fun fundraising event!
Have you got the skills to support our office team? Would you like to develop your administrative skills? If so, get in touch!
Would you like to contribute to our work but do not have much time to offer? We often need volunteers to give us a helping hand at one of our many events.
Would you like to grow fruit and veg? Socialise with other people? Our allotment not only offers you the chance to get green fingered but to get involved in our food projects which provide training and opportunities to cook food. Contact us to find out about our current food projects.
BAWS values are very much centred on community cohesion and encouraging our Afghan community to integrate with the rest of the school and local community, without compromising the cultural identity and aspects attached to being an Afghan youth living and making UK their home.Lammas School & Sports College
“I learnt how to talk to other people who I don’t know and this has made me more confident and I made new friends”
“Watching the Afghan heritage, it reminded me of a different Afghanistan, of a passive Afghanistan, of a society where people breathed and nourished, and where societies mingled with the country around “
“This is such a wonderful project you are embarking on – I am excited and privileged to be involved with it”Volunteer for DAWN project
We used Afghan Senses to cater for our project celebration event. Everything arrived on time, and proved very popular with everyone attending it was delicious and generous! I would definately use them again for other events.
